12 in attendance: Dawn Cilley, Kevin LaChapelle, Tim Neville, Cindy Cilley, Heidi Carey, Lynne Long, Jo-Ala Markson, Rich Hines, Colleen Westerling, John Cilley, Sarah Lapointe (PTO Secretary), and Dee Dee McCain (PTO Co-President)
Meeting Opened 6:35 PM
Review of February minutes- Tim Neville motioned to accept and Rich Hines seconded
Treasurer Report- Ending balance for year is questioned. Dee Dee to look in to the true balance with Michelle. Tim and Rich will wait until then to have teacher’s make requests and to possibly be able to request more money for RIF. Not accepted until the real figures are in. Tabled until next month’s meeting.
Movie matinee-
USS- volunteers will be Dawn, Jodie, Dee Dee, Tara or Kevin.
ü Sarah worked and coordinated popcorn from Smitty’s and 5 cases of water from Coca-Cola
ü Jodie will use BJ’s gift cards to purchase candy for candy sales
ü Will be selling Tanger books as well
SS-volunteers will be Lynne Long, Dee Dee, maybe Tara LaChapelle and Jodie and Jo-Ala can be there for set up.
ü Laptop, projector, and speakers are all set for both schools
Tanger Sales- We’re nearing close to 100 books sold!
Deadline is 3/31. Sarah to have flyer sent home next week as last push. USS SS PTO also received the rights to have a booth at the Annual District School Board Meeting
Family Game Night Fri March 26th 5:30-7:30 PM-We are in need of 4 volunteers for the game stations and possibly 6 students. Lynne Long to get Middle School girls. Dawn and Jo-Ala to reach out for volunteers. Colleen will be providing posters and flyers to have sent home. Sarah to be there for Tanger book sales.
Volunteer Week- Looking at getting certificate of appreciation and small gift token for volunteers.
Request for no more than $100 to have certificates printed and small token gifts purchased accepted. Tim motioned to accept and Kevin LaChapelle seconded.
Volunteer Social- Thursday April 15th 6-8 PM. Dee Dee motioned to accept date and time and to hold event and Tim Neville seconded.
ü 5th grade band will perform.
ü We will still have April meeting, this will not replace
ü Dawn and Jo-Ala to email volunteers for baking and food
ü Will use the April BJ’s gift card to purchase a cake
Basket Raffle- Each grade (including preschool) will design a basket for raffle the night of the Volunteer Social. Tim and Rich will discuss with teachers at the staff meetings for theme baskets. Students will bring in to a box in the classroom small items based on a certain theme and Dawn and Heidi have volunteered to help assemble the baskets.
ü Winner must be present at Social to win
ü Schools will have on display the week before for staff and parents to be able to purchase raffle tickets
Dee Dee motioned to accept the basket raffle and Dawn Cilley seconded
Car decal fundraiser- Tabled for now and will be discussed in fall (beginning of school year)
Flower Power fundraiser- Spring bulbs and flowers and plants where we make a 50% profit. The orders ship directly to the purchaser’s address so we do not deal with sorting orders and distributing. Company personalizes order forms.
-Only checks and money orders will be accepted and will be payable to the USS/SS PTO
-We send Flower Power ½ of product total plus the entire $5 S/H fee per order.
-Sarah to coordinate and be chairperson. Lynne Long offered to help her as needed.
Contingent on Sarah’s information from the company and Sarah is comfortable ordering 570 kits, approval to have Flower Power fundraiser from April 5th-April 16th. All monies must be in to Flower Power by the 23rd at latest. Kevin LaChapelle motioned to accept and Lynne Long seconded.
Pancake breakfast- Jo-Ala looked into pancake breakfasts at Applebee’s. Applebee’s wants $2 per ticket for every ticket we sell. Generally tickets sell between $5 and $8. We serve and take drink orders. Applebee’s prepares and does the dishes. Can be any Saturday from 8-10 AM. Menu includes pancakes, coffee, tea, and orange juice.
Jo-Ala to look into an early June, possible Bike Week date.
KAP- Sue Bergman (Enrichment Coordinator) requested $150 to make another 14 kits for use in the library for children to check in and out. KAP= kids action packs

All parents of Union Sanborn and Southwick School students are members of the PTO, and are encouraged to attend. Membership in the USS/SS PTO is free.
