Preliminary April 2011 PTO Meeting Minutes

9 in attendance: Rick Honer (PTO Co-President), Cindy Cilley (PTO Treasurer), Sarah Lapointe (PTO Secretary), Leigh-Anne Phelps, Rich Hines, Julie Nieder, Nelly Roache, Judie Milner, Kelli Aldrich

Excused Absence- Jodie Gallant (PTO Co-President)

Meeting Opened 6:33 PM
• March minutes reviewed- Nelly accepted and Cindy seconded. All approved
• Treasurer report (Cindy) - Balance of $12,397 and in good shape for September. Mr. Hines accepted and Kelli seconded. All approved.
• Movie Night- Profit of $388! Great success; areas of improvement include the sound system and possibly only serving dinner 10 minutes ahead of movie (Smitty style) if dinner even necessary. Possibility of separating the schools and having 2 different movie nights.
• Flower Power Spring Fundraiser- $2076 raised! Prizes finalized that top 30 sellers enjoy open gym & brunch @ Tilton School on 4/17. Rick to coordinate flyers to go home announcing all winners. Principals will look over list before distribution.
• April Volunteer Appreciation Week- Jodie coordinated an in-kind donation of custom USS/SS PTO note cards from local printer Tylergraphics. Volunteer recognition will consist of personalized thank you card and $5 gift card to Dipsy Doodle. Special PTO supporters (secretaries, principals, and babysitters) will receive $25 gift cards to Dipsy Doodle. On Jodie’s behalf, Sarah motioned for an additional $125 to purchase the gift cards. Julie accepted and Rich seconded. All approved.
• May Teacher Appreciation Week- Rick has coordinated daily themes for the teachers and staff. Nelly will order 80 chocolate lollipops for Monday’s Sweets & Flowers Day. Julie will help Rick with pizzas on Wednesday. Tim and Rich will ‘host’ the teacher raffles on Friday.
• Tastefully Simple- As of 4/7, profits from party looked to be around $100 per email from Sara Smith
• Fall Fundraiser- Cindy meeting with committee after this meeting. Final decision to be made this evening and will present at next month’s meeting
• Nominations for 2011-2012 PTO Board- Rick and Cindy to serve their 2nd year in the 2 year terms. Julie Nieder nominated for Co-President, Judie Milner for Secretary, and Heidi Carey for Volunteer Coordinator for both USS and SS. All 3 ladies accepted their nominations.
o Rick to look into the bylaws to see if they need to be amended
• Box Top Competition (SS Student Council) - Kelli and Student Council made posters and hung up through school. Will pick winner for April and May.
• Mr. Hines discussed concern of budget cuts and Dr. Davis proactive cuts. Both schools (and entire district) will be affected. Will find out on 6/30 for next year’s budget.
