All parents of Union Sanborn and Southwick School students are members of the PTO, and are encouraged to attend. Membership in the USS/SS PTO is free.

Union Sanborn/Southwick PTO Meeting Minutes
Thursday, March 8, 2012
6:30pm Southwick Media Center
In attendance: Rick Honer, Julie Nieder, Cindy Cilley, Leigh-Anne Phelps, and Judie Milner.
Rick called the meeting to order at 6:35pm.
Attendees reviewed the minutes of the February 2, 2012 meeting. Cindy motioned to accept the February 2, 2012 minutes, Julie seconded. Motion carried.
Cindy Cilley presented the Treasurer’s report. Checks were written for artist in residence to Mr. Winslow. Board voted by email to approve an additional amount for the artist’s hotel room. School snacks not using a lot of money because of fruit program but after school tutor program is using the money. Michele Gagnon ordered RIF books so that amount is due. Julie motioned to approve the Treasurer’s report, Rick seconded. Motion carried.
Julie presented the decals. The group discussed what price point to use - agreed on $3.00. The PTO will begin selling them at movie night.
The Teacher Breakfast went well. The group decided that we need more egg/entree dishes for next year. Teacher’s loved the chocolate lollipops. Except for tablecloths, we have enough decorations for next year.
The group decided to postpone the Kids Cabin Fever event until next year. Judie will contact the Franklin Outing Club to see if they rent out the ski hill for sledding. Other suggestions for Kids Cabin Fever event were: Skate Escape, ice skating at Tilton School, or a dance. Instead of the cabin fever event, we thought about helping schools with field day. This will be discussed further at the next meeting.
The board signed the bus driver appreciation cards. Cindy will take the cards with gift cards to Mrs. Lauretti to pass out to bus drivers.
Cindy discussed the March 23rd Movie Night. License fee increased from $75 to $100. Cindy is trying to get BJ’s to donate paper products. Cindy is having trouble getting food donated because of quantity of people so going with pizza again this year. PTO will also be selling the snacks, drinks and Smitty’s is providing popcorn. T-Bones donated salads last year and may donate again. Cindy has some Fun Spot gift cards, computer spyware software and movie to raffle that night. Movie starts at 6pm. Volunteers needed at 5pm. Prepayment is required this year so we can get the correct food quantity. Cost probably will be $3 depending on how much of the food is donated.
Spring fundraiser - Julie emailing the school secretary’s for labels for the spring fundraiser. The booklets will be delivered to schools on 3/16. Julie will distribute to classrooms.
Volunteer recognition letters and gifts –need to get a list of volunteers from Heidi – Cindy has lists for her events. Rick will call schools for list of school volunteers. Judie will call Jonathan Dupuis about $5 gift cards at Dipsy Doodle again this year.
Rick volunteered to chair Mom’s breakfast. The group discussed possible dates in May (5/15 & 5/22) for this event. Rick will contact the schools. We will discuss this further at the next meeting.
Judie will send out Backpack Express Newsletter reminding people of PTO positions up for election this year as well as the spring fundraiser and movie night. Nominations for PTO elections will be at the next meeting, April 5th.
