Treasurer’s Report
Leigh-Anne reviewed the treasurers report; Custodial fees for fundraiser pick up were billed at 6 hours but the pickup was open for 3 hours – Mrs. Proulx will check into; discussed increasing budget for holiday craft fair to $400 for next year as spending continues to go over appropriation. Leigh-Anne motioned to approve Treasurer’s report, Bridget seconded. Motion carried.
Breakfast with Dad
The group discussed better advertising next year at Union.
Holiday Fair
The event was well attended. A couple of parents suggested placing the book fair in separate location than make & take so children can focus on crafts; those attending felt we needed more room for crafts; kudos were given to the high school student who volunteered – he did a great job!
Holiday Shoppe
The group has only heard positive comments about the event. A different company was used this year - the prices seemed more affordable; the group felt it went smoother with no wrapping station; group considered having the event later in the day next year so we can utilize volunteers from Tilton prep. The event was well attended even with icy weather that day.
Valentines Breakfast
Event is scheduled for Friday, 2/15; Bridget and Leigh-Anne will decorate the night before; Bridget, Leigh-Anne, and Judie volunteered to assist the morning of the event; Renee will ask for another volunteer; Bridget & Leigh-Anne are checking both closets for decorations; Renee sending out email asking for parent volunteers to bring ready to eat food by 7am the morning of the 15th.
Dinner & Movie
The group discussed dinner and movie night and scheduled it for the 5th of April; Cindy Cilley is chairing the event.
Skate Escape
Leigh-Anne is trying to contact Skate Escape to schedule winter event; it will be a 2 hour block at Skate Escape. They will charge us $2 per person which includes rental; group considered charging $3 per person for tickets; Leigh-Anne plans to sell glow sticks as well; probably will hold the event Saturday, March 16th.
Other Business
Mrs. Proulx announced that there will be a community forum on 1/23/13 at the middle school regarding full day kindergarten in schools; it will be a facilitated event; Mrs. Proulx asked for help to get info out to people; Judie will put it in the backpack express going out next week.
Mrs. Proulx announced that the district budget meeting will be held on 3/23/13 and asked for support from the PTO.
Judie reported that the PTO is almost out of our cards with our logo on it. Judie checked online and found Vista Print to be the cheapest price at $185 for 250 cards and envelopes. Mr. Hines suggested checking with the NH prison store for a better price. Group authorized Judie to purchase cards after checking with prison store.
Renee reported that Sarah Jenna needs 2-3 volunteers for the spring dance; she is planning to hold it 4/19. Board asked Renee to invite Ms. Jenna to the next meeting to discuss the event. We may need to tweak it as Principals recommend being taught a dance vs. an open dance as these don’t typically work out well for this age group.
The group discussed having a book exchange maybe at field day – considered charging 5 cents and possibly donating proceeds to shelter.
The next meeting will be Thursday February 7, 2013 at 6:30pm in the Southwick media room.
Bridget motioned to adjourn, Leigh-Anne seconded.
Meeting adjourned at 7:33 pm.
